Who We Are
The Purple People Leader (TPPL) is an independent media and commentary site.
Our goal is to share analysis and ideas that help readers think independently and see the world beyond tribal filters.
The site lives at https://thepurplepeopleleader.org and is maintained and operated by the TPPL team.
If you ever have a question about your data, email: privacy@thepurplepeopleleader.org
What Information We Collect and Why
1. Information you give us directly
- Email address if you subscribe to the newsletter or mailing list.
- Name and email if you leave a comment or send a message through a contact form.
- If future membership options exist, payment details will be processed securely through trusted services like Stripe or PayPal - never saved on our servers.
2. Information collected automatically
Like most sites, our server records basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and pages visited.
We use self‑hosted analytics (MATOMO) to measure traffic patterns without third‑party ad trackers or cookies.
Occasionally we may use Beehiiv redirects for newsletter link tracking (to see which articles get clicked). These redirects count clicks but don’t share personal identities with Beehiiv.
How We Use Your Information
- To send you emails you’ve asked for and nothing else.
- To improve readability and functionality of the site.
- To analyze overall audience trends (what topics resonate, not who you are).
- To debug or protect the site against malicious activity.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data with anyone.
Analytics and Cookies
- We avoid third‑party tracking Ads.
- Cookies we use are mostly for site functionality (login sessions, form protect tokens).
- Matomo may store a small anonymous cookie to help understand unique visits.
- You can disable cookies in your browser and the site will still work fine.
Email and Subscription Lists
Subscriptions are managed through our own systems and occasionally routed through Beehiiv for analytics or distribution.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link. When you unsubscribe, your information is removed from our active list.
How Long We Keep Data
We keep subscriber and comment information only as long as needed to deliver services or comply with laws.
If you unsubscribe or ask us to remove your data, we’ll delete it as soon as technically possible.
Your Rights
You can at any time:
- Ask for a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Request that we correct or delete it.
- Withdraw consent to emails or analytics.
To do that, just email privacy@thepurplepeopleleader.org.
Where Your Data Lives
Our servers and backups are hosted by Hostinger (U.S.), protected by SSL encryption.
Analytics runs on our server at thepurplepeopleleader.org/analytics - not shared with third‑party advertisers.
Third‑Party Connections We May Use
We keep external tools to a minimum, but may use:
- Beehiiv - for optional newsletter distribution & link tracking.
- Matomo Analytics - self‑hosted statistics, no outside data transfer.
- Payment Processors (e.g., Stripe / PayPal) - for reader support modules.
Each provider stores its data under its own security and privacy terms.
Security Measures
We use HTTPS encryption, firewall protection, and limited login access. No system is 100 % perfect, but we’re committed to protecting subscriber data to industry standards.
Children’s Privacy
TPPL content is intended for adults 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we add new features or change how data is handled, we’ll update this page and note the new “Last Updated” date at the top. Revisit occasionally to stay informed.
